Nuclear Waste Action in Dunkirk Harbour
Activists from Greenpeace France disrupted the loading of twenty containers of French used uranium on board the cargo ship Conmar Elbe in the port of Dunkirk.
Greenpeace France activists deployed “Russia is not a garbage”, “Stop radioactive traffic” or “Nuclear is not green” banners near the cargo ship with destination is Saint Petersburg, Russia.
Greenpeace France calls for a definitive end to French retirement uranium exports to Russia, which are environmental, social and economic nonsense. Today classified by French regulations as a recoverable “material”, reprocessed uranium must be included in the “waste” category, as is the case in the majority of nuclear countries around the world. Its final storage on French territory must be planned and organized.
