Aerial view of the Wintershall Dea operated oil drilling and production rig Mittelplate A. The installation is located in the tidal flats of the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park near Friedrichskoog. Mittelplate is Germany's largest oil field. The Mittelplate platform has produced more than 37 million tons of oil since it began operations in 1987. Produced oil is transported via a 10 km long pipeline to Dieksand Landstation in Friedrichskoog.
