Activists Remove Plastic Nets at Lake Fertő, Hungary
Greenpeace activists, accompanied by award-winning actress Dorottya Udvaros took action on Lake Fertő.
The activists removed plastic nets to allow swallows to return to their nests at Lake Fertő, Hungary.
Right on the shores of the lake, the Hungarian government is in the process of building a huge luxury project, during which they're actively destroying the local wildlife. Greenpeace activists approached the lake's last standing stilt house with canoes. Their mission was to remove the so-called bird nets that the contractor placed on the bottom of these houses to prevent swallows from building new nests or occupying the existing ones.
Thousands of swallows used to nest under the stilt structures. These animals are endangered in Hungary and should be protected at all costs.
