The "Case of the Century" Reaches its Goal: Forcing the State to Act for the Climate in France - Photos
At the second hearing of The "Case of the Century" (Affaire du Siècle), the public rapporteur of the Paris Administrative Court concluded that the State must repair the serious environmental damage caused by its climate inaction by taking concrete and very rapid action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The hearing comes eight months after the four organisations that brought the case won a landmark victory in which the judges declared the state's climate inaction illegal and affirmed its responsibility for the climate crisis. The court then reopened the case to "determine the measures that must be ordered from the State" to repair the ecological damage caused by the excess emissions between 2015 and 2018.
