A community member at the Casa Familiar Rural Gurupá (Rural School), located in Rio Uruai, an example of education based on the sustainable use of forest resources; many community leaders have been educated there. Activists hold a meeting with local community leaders and eat regional food. In 1998, a group of families decided to create a school capable of educating the youth to work the land in a sustainable way. The Casa Familiar Rural of Gurupa was founded as a initiative by the Rural Workers Union of Gurupa.
