Coal Ash Collection at Mae Moh Plant in Thailand
Every afternoon hundreds of large trucks wait at the entrance of the Mae Moh coal power plant to collect coal ash (also known as fly ash) that is then taken away for use in such things as concrete and fertiliser. Coal ash is the residue left over after the combustion of coal and is highly toxic.
Mae Moh coal power plant is the largest power plant with a capacity of 2,625 megawatts (MW) owned by Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) in Mae Moh district, in Lampang province, North of Thailand.
