Arctic 30 Action during Putin's Visit in Rome
Greenpeace activists, one dressed as a polar bear, protest near the St. Peter Church in Rome, Italy before Russian president Putin meets Pope Francesco. With this protest Greenpeace is asking for the release of the Arctic 30. The 'Arctic 30' (twenty-eight Greenpeace International activists, as well as a freelance photographer and a freelance videographer) are detained in Russia after a peaceful protest against oil drilling in the Arctic Sea. They have all been charged with piracy, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years.
