Marine conservation expert Rick Steiner explains the dangers of Statoil oil exploration. The Greenpeace ship Esperanza and crew have protested against Statoil's oil drilling in the Barents Sea, sending the Statoil commissioned rig a message to ‘Save The Arctic ‘. The rig was already positioned to start drilling on the 27th of August despite an ongoing official complaints procedure that would not permit drilling until 18th of September 2014. Greenpeace is campaigning for a ban on offshore drilling in the Arctic, and for the uninhabited area around the North Pole to be declared a global sanctuary.
