A Captured Pygmy Parrot in Kaureh
A Pygmy parrot was captured by a local villager and put as a trap to attract more birds to be captured inside the forests, close to the palm oil concession owned by PT Megasurya Mas (PT MSM) and PT Siringo-Ringo (PT SRR) a subsidiary to Musim Mas group, a palm oil supplier to Procter and Gamble in Kaureh sub-district, Jayapura district, Papua province. Papuan forests are rich in biodiversity, including birds of paradise, palm cockatoos and a home for indigenous people which are now threatened due to palm oil development in the area.
