Greenpeace is hoping that on July 5, both presidential candidates declare more ambitious targets for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, increasing renewable energy usage, preservation of tropical forests, peatlands and oceans, regulations governing the disposal of hazardous chemical waste into the environment, as well as more thoughtful strategies for sustainable natural resource management.
