Action against Sawmill in Germany
Greenpeace volunteers dressed in white on the premises of the German sawmill Rhenus Midgard are standing on big trunks of African timber holding a Greenpeace banner that reads: 'Ancient Forest's Cemetery Midgard-Blexen'. Rhenus Midgard in Nordenham-Blexen, North Rhine-Westphalia is targeted by Greenpeace because of their taking part in the destruction of ancient forests by importing African timber. Furthermore the company operate a private harbour in Nordenham, the biggest reloading point for African round timber in Germany. Purchasers of African timber are mainly the door industry as well as parquet and furniture manufacturers.
