Hippopotamus in the Swamp in Botswana
Hippopotamus in the swamp, Okavango delta, North Western Botswana, the world's largest inland delta. The hippos are important for keeping the channels clear. The wetlands area supports a wide variety of wildlife. A government scheme to dredge stretches of the Boro River and improve water supplies to the area was suspended in 1990 because of concerns about environmental effects on the ecosystem.
