Crew members help people onboard during the evacuation of the Rongelap Islanders to Mejato by the crew of the Rainbow Warrior. Rongelap suffered nuclear fallout from US nuclear tests done from 1946 - 1958, making it a hazardous place to live. The health of many adults and children has suffered as a result. The Greenpeace crew took adults, children and 100 tonnes of belongings onboard.

Operation Exodus Rongelap. The island of Rongelap was used for USA nuclear tests from 1946-1958 and was hit by nuclear fallout. Many adults and children suffered from diseases related to the nuclear tests. The crew of the Rainbow Warrior took adults, children and 100 tonnes of belongings onboard to the island of Mejato, 14 hrs sailing from Rongelap. These are the last photos taken by Fernando Pereira.
