Pastureland is now rapidly turning to desert over a period of just three years - 20 km from Guo Maying county, Qinghai, China. Overgrazing and climate change are the main causes which allow winds to carry top soil sand, through unusual weather patterns to land on surrounding hills and grazing areas. The new desert (seen in picture) stretches for 7 to 8 km long.
