Victim Shakeel Quereshi in Bhopal
Shakeel Quereshi, Bhopal 2002. Shakeel Quereshi was the shift-in charge at the Union Carbide factory on the night of 2-3 December 1984. "I am one of the witnesses as well as accused in this case. The disaster unfolded before my eyes. I am bound by legal considerations, and cannot reveal the details. But the fact remains that my life has been wrecked and still I am being treated like an accused. I was badly exposed to the MIC gas leaking in the plant and have survived mainly on a strong dose of steroids and will power. After the tragedy, no one gave me even a week."
