Burning Oil from Oil Rig Disaster in the Gulf of Mexico
A ship sprays water on the pipe burning off the side of the platform in the Gulf of Mexico. The same pipes used for the failed "top kill" operation, suck oil and natural gas out of the well and onto the Q4000 which is burning it on location at the site where BP's Deepwater Horizon sank. The BP leased Deepwater Horizon oil platform exploded April 20 and sank after burning, leaking record amounts of crude oil from the broken pipeline into the sea.
