Greenpeace activists create a symbolic evacuation zone in front of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) headquarters in Vienna, demanding that representatives of countries attending its safety committee meeting start moving towards a global phase out of nuclear energy.
The activists create the evacuation zone around a steaming cooling tower symbolizing a nuclear power plant and unfurl a banner reading ‘Exclude Nuclear power from our future’ during the final session of the IAEA’s Convention on Nuclear Safety (CNS), which comes just days after the Japanese government upgraded the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear crisis to the same level as Chernobyl.

Anlässlich der zu Ende gehenden Tagung zur nuklearen Sicherheit (CNS – Convention on Nuclear Safety) errichten mehr als zwanzig AktivistInnen der Umweltschutzorganisation Greenpeace eine symbolische “Atom-Evakuierungszone” vor dem Hauptquartier der Internationalen Atomenergie-Organisation (IAEO) in Wien. Mit Bannern und einem rauchenden Reaktor-Kühlturm protestieren die Greenpeace-AktivistInnen erneut gegen die Atomindustrie und für eine Zukunft ohne Atomkraft.
