Research on Fram Strait Ice Floe
A sign on the door and blown by the winds tells the crew not to enter onto the ice without permission from the bridge. Two scientists have been allowed to venture out onto the ice, even though the weather is bad. Harsh conditions in the Arctic make it harder to work due to safety considerations. Researchers have to take into account the risks of polar bears which are hard to see in fog and of the floe moving and shifting in moving swells.
