Research on Fram Strait Ice Floe
A crew member of the Greenpeace ice breaker, Arctic Sunrise climbs back on board after working on an ice floe. Snowy conditions temporarily halted work drilling holes across the floe. The holes are used to make depth measurements, the quickest way to make accurate assessment of the shape and size of an ice floe. The data is later collated my mathematicians and ice modellers who are able to construct a picture of the sea ice, to tell us more about the dynamics of how it forms and melts.
