Iceberg in the Arctic
View from above an iceberg waiting to be towed by Cairn Energy tug boats. The Berg is approximately 20 miles from the Cairn Stena Forth drill ship. A huge logistical operation is performed to drag icebergs away from the drilling area. Any icebergs that come within 25kms of the drilling platforms are hosed down to melt them or are dragged away. Cairn have eight vessels working on this full time but more and more icebergs appear on the horizon in what is commonly known as 'Iceberg Alley'.
