Action against Deforestation in Germany
Greenpeace activists cover trees with flame posters to protest against destructive logging for soya plantations in the Brazilian Amazon area. The soy grown in the Amazon is transported to Europe where it is a cheap way to feed cattle. The U.S. companies Cargill, Bunge and Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) together control 60 percent of Brazil's soybean production and more than three quarters of the soybean processing industry in Europe. The action is being held in 11 different countries on the same day; Brazil, Argentina, USA, Canada, Australia, Papua New Guinea, Check Republic, Hungary, Spain and the Netherlands.
