Deepwater Oil Disaster News Conference
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Administrator Jane Lubchenco talks with local fishermen and charter boat captains during a news conference on the effects of the Deepwater Horizon oil platform disaster at Cypress Cove Marina in Venice, La. Oil leaking from the Deepwater Horizon wellhead continues to spread getting closer to the Louisiana coastline. The BP leased oil platform exploded on April 20 and sank after burning. A scientist from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration had concluded that oil is leaking at the rate of 5,000 barrels a day, not 1,000 as had been estimated.
