Potable Water - Web Documentary (International Version)
The families of the Maria da Paz settlement, located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, struggled with the difficulties derived from lack of access to clean water.
A photovoltaic desalinator – which desalinates seawater using electricity generated by the sun – benefits more than 200 people. Before having the equipment, the community had to consume the rainwater or buy drinking water.
This clip is part of Greenpeace Brazil’s web documentary project entitled “Here Comes the Sun”, a project that explores the social, economic, and environmental benefits of solar energy through personal stories.
The project also addresses the barriers for the development and use of Brazil’s solar energy potential. And it shows people who are acting in different ways so that the sun increasingly lights-up Brazil.
