Damaged Rice Farms in the Philippines Due to Drought by El Niño
Vast tracts of rice farms heavily damaged by prolonged dry spell in New Antique, M’Lang, North Cotabato. Harvest was at its lowest at 2 sacks of rice per hectare. Greenpeace is asking the government to provide short- and long-term support to farmers affected by El Niño and to provide support to farmers transitioning from conventional to ecological farming. The government should also implement programs or long-term solutions that will respond to the effects and impacts of climate change, including on food security.
