Pancakes Not Pipelines Action in Washington DC
Director Josh Fox, Landowner Megan Holleran, singer-songwriter Bethany Yarrow, Gabriel Shapiro, a Hampshire College student in Massachusetts, Jane Kendall from New York City, Don Weightman, a Beyond Extreme Energy organizer from Philadelphia and Ron Coler of Ashfield, Massachusetts, who’s fighting the NED pipeline and Connecticut Expansion were arrested in the protest outside of FERC after staging a human blockade in front of the entrance to the garage.
Beyond Extreme Energy (BXE), together with artists, concerned citizens, landowners, and prominent guests, took direct action against the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for its role in destroying the Holleran family maple farm in New Milford Pennsylvania. FERC’s pipeline permit gave the Constitution Pipeline Company and its chainsaw team - aided by heavily-armed federal marshals - the "right" to clear-cut Hollerans' the maple tree stand on the family farm, in the middle of the maple sugaring season. BXE's protest confronted FERC's role in wrecking the Holleran farm, and also demanded that FERC stop issuing permits for the new pipelines and other projects supporting the expansion of the fracked gas industry, which is ruining the neighborhoods and countryside, threatening the health and safety of all of us, and adding to the climate crisis.
