Group of resistance to hydroelectric projects in the Amazon gathered bishops of the Catholic Church, Munduruku leaders, social movements and civil society organisations in action to protest against the construction of hydroelectric complex of Tapajós. The traditional peoples of the region will have their life irreversibly affected by the project, but are not being properly consulted. The gathering took place in the community of São Luiz do Tapajós, near Itaituba (PA), where the first dam is planned to be built.
