Photovoltaic Installation on Shop Roof in Japan
Ai Kashiwagi, Greenpeace Japan energy campaigner, with a solar panel to be installed on the roof of Esperi, a community shop in Miharu town, Fukushima.
Together with a community in Fukushima, in the 5th year of the ongoing Fukushima nuclear disaster, Greenpeace launched the solar project “Solarise Fukushima” to create a solar hub, which will promote renewable energy use in Fukushima. People around Japan and the world contributed through crowd funding to install solar panels on the rooftop of the community shop, Esperi. The solar hub will be a tangible testament of shift from nuclear to clean and reliable renewable energy. This inspiring story will help not only move forward with solarizing Fukushima, but also solarizing Japan and the world.
