Ohana Kai Whale Campaign in San Francisco
Legendary rock guitarist Jerry Garcia, Grateful Dead, plays a benefit concert for Greenpeace on Pier 31 in San Francisco, CA, in front of the Greenpeace ship James Bay.
Greenpeace chartered the James Bay in Seattle in 1976 for actions against the Soviet whaling fleet. Alongside Greenpeace ship Ohana Kai, confronted and documented Soviet whale-kills north of Hawaii and was the subject of an ABC television documentary aired internationally.
