Action for the Białowieża Forest at Ministry of Environment in Warsaw
Greenpeace activists, on behalf of all Białowieża Forest defenders, display a banner at the Ministry of Environment in Warsaw, Poland. The banner reads in Polish “Cała Puszcza parkiem narodowym” (Entire Bialowieza Forest should be a national park). With this action Greenpeace calls for the only efficient way to save the Białowieża Forest: the establishment of a national park on the entire territory of the forest.
Currently only 1/3 of the Białowieża Forest is protected by national park and natural reserves, despite the fact that the entire Forest is UNESCO World Heritage Site.
