Investigation in Ukraine: Sampling Wood - Web Video (English Subtitles)
A team of Greenpeace visits Ukraine and the Ivankiv district to investigate the consequences of the Chernobyl catastrophe. The Ivankiv district borders the exclusion zone and this area has been contaminated with strontium-90 much more heavily. Ukraine has a standard limiting content in the wood that is used as fuel.
The team has conducted sampling of wood and found that nine of 12 wood samples exceeded permissible limits of strontium. In the ash sample the level was 20 times higher than in the most contaminated wood sample.
