Plastic and Velella off Capraia Island
Plastic item floating among a group of Velella velella, a monospecific genus of hydrozoa in the Porpitidae family. Hydrozoans are related to jellyfish and corals and belong to the phylum Cnidaria.
Greenpeace together with the CNR-IAS and the University of the Marche region carry out a tour in the Tyrrhenian Sea to document the plastic and microplastics pollution in the marine ecosystem.
