MY Esperanza Crew in Antarctica
Greenpeace deckhand Alessandro, pictured on return from a visit to the Signy Island Reseach Station, on Signy Island, part of the South Orkney Islands, in Antarctica. The station is occupied during the summer months by staff of the British Antarctic Survey.
The Greenpeace ship MY Esperanza is on the final leg of the pole to pole voyage from the Arctic to the Antarctic. The almost year-long yoyage is one of Greenpeace’s biggest ever expeditions and highlights the many threats facing the oceans while campaigning for a Global Ocean Treaty covering all seas outside of national waters.
