Fishing Gear Clean Up on Snow Island in Antarctica
Scientists and Greenpeace crew clean up fishing gear found on Snow Island in the South Shetlands of Antarctica.
Fishing gear can be lost by accident or abandoned at sea deliberately. Once there, nets and lines can pose a threat to wildlife for years or decades.
Greenpeace is back in the Antarctic on the last stage of the ‘Protect the Oceans’ Expedition. We have teamed up with a group of scientists to investigate and document the impacts the climate crisis is already having in this area.
