Protest against Ship with Soya in Brake, Germany - News Access (Aerials)
Activists from Greenpeace Germany protest against the import of soya from destroyed forest and savannah areas on the cargo ship Hiroshima Star in the Lower Weser. The freighter is loaded with soya from Brazil including from the Agronegócio Estrondo Estate in Western Bahia, in Brazil's Cerrado region.
The activists paint ‘Climate Crime’ on the freighter’s hull and unfurl large banners from the cranes at its destination in the port of Brake, to demonstrate opposition to the import of soy feed for mass livestock farming, which will further aggravate the climate crisis when valuable ecosystems that can bind carbon dioxide disappear.
The protest is prompted by the meeting of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The delegates will present the final version of the special report on "Climate Protection and Land Systems" by August 8 in Geneva.
