Forest Fires Haze Victims in Central Kalimantan
Rafa, a 50 days old baby, is held by his mother and kissed by his sister, while he receives oxygen treatment as the air is hit by thick haze from forest fires, at the ICU of Doris Sylvanus public hospital, in Palangkaraya city, Central Kalimantan. This year's nearly 2,000 wildfires are burning across Indonesia. It is the worst year since 2015.
Officials estimate that the fires have burned more than 800,000 acres. Greenpeace criticized the government for not taking action against the companies that set fires to clear land for agriculture purposes.
