Appeal Trial for Exposing Nuclear Plants Security Lack in France - News Access
8 activists from Greenpeace France, as well as its nuclear campaigner, Yannick Rousselet, attend the appeal trial at the courthouse of Metz.
While in the first instance the judge had sentenced particularly heavy, including two months of imprisonment for two activists and personally sentencing an employee, the lawyers of Greenpeace France have asked the acquittal.
The activists are being prosecuted after entering the Cattenom nuclear power plant on October 2017. They had set off a firework display to denounce the lack of protection of spent fuel storage pools at EDF nuclear power plants.
During the hearing, more than 250 people and several environmental organizations gathered in front of the courthouse to show their support to the activists.
