Intrusion in Cattenom Nuclear Power Plant: Greenpeace France in Appeal Court
8 activists from Greenpeace France, as well as its nuclear campaigner, Yannick Rousselet, attend the appeal trial at the courthouse of Metz.
While in the first instance the judge had sentenced particularly heavy, including two months of imprisonment for two activists and personally sentencing an employee, the lawyers of Greenpeace France have asked the acquittal.
The activists are being prosecuted after entering the Cattenom nuclear power plant on October 2017. They made there a fireworks to denounce the lack of protection of spent fuel storage pools at EDF nuclear power plants.
During the hearing, more than 250 and several environmental organizations gathered in front of the courthouse to show their support to the activists.
