Northern Saw-whet Owl in Canadian Boreal Forest
Northern saw-whet owl (Aegolius acadicus).
The too-too-too call of these nocturnal owls can be heard in forests across North America, but they are seldom seen. Some of these birds migrate south in the winter, while others are permanent residents. They are known to use the nests made by other raptors, or nest in the holes left by large woodpeckers.
