Delhi Switches On The Sun
Greenpeace activists along with Mr. Rajneesh Srivastava, Executive Officer at Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy Management Center and Delhi Residence Welfare Association members visit the Indraprasth Power station (240 MW), one of the oldest power station in Delhi. It was shut down in 2010. The Delhi government has partnered with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) to set up the solar power plant (3 MW) on a vacant plot in the power station.
The total area is 14 acres. The total vacant land available is 9 acres, and a 1 MW is already installed on that area. Further 1 MW will soon to be added.
Greenpeace is keen in continuing to work together with the Delhi Government to ensure proper implementation of the new policy.
