American three-toed woodpecker (Picoides dorsalis).
These birds sometimes eat fruit and sap, but they primarily search for insects in trees. They flourish in areas with insect infested trees, especially after forest fires and flooding. Only those who live at high elevations, or in the far north, migrate south for the winter.
