Forest Conservation Units in the Brazilian Amazon
Manicoré district, Amazonas state, Brazil. Recent deforestation in Santo Antonio de Matupi district, next to the Aripuanã National Forest and the Area of Environmental Protection of Manicoré Fields. In an extremely strategic region for Amazon conservation, Brazilian government can end with one Conservation Unit and reduce by 40% the area of four others. Greenpeace Brazil has flown over the region to document the forest that can be lost with this project, as well as threats and possible interests in the reduction.
