RES Installation at “Tuzha” Mountain Hut in Bulgaria
“Tuzha” Mountain hut is located at 1500 mt above sea level in the heart of the National park “Central Balkans” in Bulgaria. Its central location, accessible trails and magnificent view make it an attractive destination for tourists from different parts of the country.
In the beginning of October 2016, 20 Greenpeace Bulgaria volunteers take part in the installation of photo-voltaic panels on the newly repaired roof of the hut. The 30 PV panels will heat all the water the hut needs to meet its daily needs. This will significantly reduce the use of wood for heating purposes. Mountain huts are a great example of energy-independent buildings that can rely solely on RES (Renewable Energy Systems) to meet their energy needs.
In addition to the PV installation, the volunteers created an info corner in the hut where visitors can learn more about the advantages of renewable energy and why we need to end the age of coal and fossil fuels.
Turning “Tuzha” into a truly “solar mountain hut” is a great way to promote the path to 100% renewable future.
