Break Free Action in Washington D.C.
Rev. Lennox Yearwood Jr. addresses a DC Break Free rally in Lafayette Park near the White House in Washington, D.C. The rally and march to the Lincoln Memorial were part of the day's events to call on the Obama administration to stop offshore drilling. Speakers from the Arctic, Atlantic and Gulf Coast communities called on President Obama to build on his legacy as a climate champion by keeping the Arctic and Atlantic Oceans out of not just this 5-year plan but all future plans, and to end the treatment of the Gulf coast as a sacrifice zone by halting all new oil and gas leasing in the region.
