Bunny McDiarmid in Sawré Muybu Indigenous Land - Web Video
Greenpeace International Executive Director Bunny McDiarmid and Greenpeace Brazil Amazon Campaign Coordinator Tica Minami meet with several Munduruku Caciques in the Amazon rainforest along the Tapajós River. The Munduruku indigenous people have inhabited the Sawré Muybu Indigenous territory, in the heart of the Amazon, for generations. The Brazilian government plans to build a series of dams in the Tapajós River basin, which would severely threaten their way of life. The Munduruku demand the demarcation of their territory which would ensure protection from such projects. In addition to preserving their way of life, the demarcation of Sawré Muybu ensures the conservation of 178,000 hectares of Amazon rainforest.
