International Save the Vaquita Day 2016 in Washington D.C.
Standing curbside, an activist holds their sign for cars driving by to see.
Outside the Mexican Embassy in Washington D.C., people rally to thank the Mexican government for its efforts to save the vaquita, as well as urge Mexico to do more by imposing a permanent ban on fishing nets in vaquita habitat, located in the Northern parts of the Gulf of California. The vaquita is the world's smallest and most endangered porpoise, and it is estimated that there are only 60 left in the wild.
