'We Grow' Launch Event in Thailand
Greenpeace Southeast Asia and Vanessa Rangsit School officially launched in Bangkok the project entitled “We Grow: Kids growing their own food.” The goal of the the project is to promote gardening among children as a way to build a healthy, safe and more sustainable food system based on ecological agriculture. One of the main activities is the creation of an ecological kitchen garden, where students will learn how to grown their own food and benefit from ecological agriculture. In addition to the building of the vegetable garden, the launch event also included a talk by experts in education and sustainable agriculture, several urban farming workshops and the presence of an organic market.
Ecological agriculture enables communities to produce enough food to feed themselves. This form of agriculture fosters a future of healthy farming and food to all people, as opposed to industrial agriculture that uses expensive farm chemicals and rely on companies that supply both the seeds and the chemical technology.
