Greenpeace expert Manfred Santen at the place of the chemical spill taking samples of water. On Tuesday 17th October at ca.11.30 am an explosion happened at BASF chemical plant in Ludwigshafen during work at a pipeline. Fire and smoke were seen over the whole area at the river Rhein. In the north harbour of BASF flamable liquids and nitrous gases are transshipped.
