Plastic Dolphins Mosaic in Athens (Web Video - English Subtitles)
Greenpeace activists in Athens created a massive mosaic using 10.000 single use plastic coffee cups, as many as Greeks consume every 15’. The mosaic depicts the worldknown dolphins’ fresco of the Knossos palace in Creta and aims to highlight the major threat our oceans are facing due to extensive plastic pollution.
The Minoan dolphins are a monument of humanity’s heritage created almost 3.500 years ago. The only heritage the modern civilization will leave behind with similar lifetime are the plastics we consume. The single use, throwaway culture is arguably one of the biggest follies of humanity.
Includes a soundbite of Greenpeace Greece Oceans Campaigner Alkis Kafetzis.
