Activists Blockade Logging in Białowieża Forest
Greenpeace activists from Poland together with people from Czech Republic and Romania block the logging operations in the Białowieża Forest, one of Europe’s last lowland natural forest, inscribed in UNESCO World Heritage List. It is the fourth action in Białowieża Forest within the last two weeks. Almost 30 activists occupy the forestry heavy machinery and display banners in Polish, English and Czech: "Save Bialowieza Forest", "Protect last primeval forest of Europe", "Nature has no borders". The transnational action is held to show, that Białowieża Forest is a heritage of all humanity and protest against Poland's minister of environment Jan Szyszko's decision to enable massive logging in old parts of the forest.
