Under the motto "All villages stay! Now more than ever", residents as well as more than 20 national and regional organizations will demonstrate on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at the Garzweiler opencast lignite mine in the Rhenish coal district.

The demonstration is directed against the federal government's coal law, which provides for the generation of electricity from coal by 2038. According to scientists*, the Parisian climate goals for Germany can only be achieved with a much earlier coal phase-out.
